Imagine what it would be like to fall in love - over and over and over again. Do you remember that stomach in your throat, can't speak a sentence without sounding silly feeling? Now you know the secret, the secret that keeps writers writing. The story is what drives the writer, that and the emotions that the story can evoke.
Writing is simply what I do. I write for my paycheck, I write because there is inevitably a story that is stuck in my mind, I write to make sense of a day and a situation and I write because it is whom I am. I am a fortunate person.
I am privileged to write a weekly column for Montgomery Newspapers, a Journal Registry Company. I find it amazing that my chaotic family life would be fodder for columns week after week for three years; then again I live it so I know that it is true. The truest place for any writer is the place in which others read that which we write.
Ahhh, the books. The books are both the joy and suffering of this writing girls world. The story is there, I can see it from beginning to end, but the telling can ebb and flow like the tide. There are scenes that have taken me weeks to put together and then there are others can be written in a night. I have found that when I am working on a story that requires technical details it is always best to go to the source and get the questions answered as best as you can. The trick is to really listen. You can always distort those facts later... remember its fiction.
I always change the names to protect the innocent, whether in my columns or those that have helped me when working on a scene. You know who you are and I am grateful for your time. Generosity of others keeps me as well as the story credible.
I hope you enjoy your visit and that you take some time to look around and read a little. A collection of writings live within the pages of this site, just as they have at one time or another, inhabited a special corner of my mind.
